Nebraska Wesleyan University senior Jordan Delbaugh is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Special Teams Player-of-the-Week. Delbaugh, a senior from Englewood, Colo., blocked two kicks in Nebraska Wesleyan’s 25-20 win over Saint Mary this past Saturday (Sept. 1).
Delbaugh blocked a field goal attempt right before halftime, then in the fourth quarter he blocked a PAT attempt and returned it 86 yards for a defensive PAT. The two points put the Prairie Wolves up by five points and forced Saint Mary to go for a touchdown on their final possession instead of a potential game-tying field goal.
For his career, Delbaugh has now blocked eight career kicks. This is the second time he has been named GPAC Special Teams Player of the Week honors as he also earned the recognition after week nine in 2011.
Nebraska Wesleyan (1-0) opens GPAC play this Saturday (Sept. 8) when they travel to Fremont, Neb., to face Midland University. It will be the first game of the 2012 season for the Warriors and their new head football coach. Kickoff is set for Noon.
