Game week has arrived on the Nebraska Wesleyan campus as the NWU football team will play their 2012 season opener this Saturday (Sept. 1) when they host the University of Saint Mary from Kansas. Kickoff between the Prairie Wolves and Spires is set for 1 pm at Abel Stadium.
NWU returns 12 total starters, six from each side of the football, from the 2011 team that finished 5-5 overall. The Prairie Wolves were picked to finish seventh in the 2012 GPAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
Saint Mary is coming off their most successful season in school history going 7-4 overall and finishing second in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference standings. USM was picked to finish fifth in the 2012 KCAC Preseason Coaches Poll.
Last season was the first time the two teams met with NWU winning 58-34 in the season opener at Leavenworth, Kan.
