The Nebraska Wesleyan University football team was picked to finish 7th in the 2012 preseason GPAC Coaches' poll that was released on Thursday (Aug. 2). The poll was voted on by all 10 coaches at the 13th Annual GPAC Media Day that was held at the Country Inn & Suites in Lincoln. New this season was a media poll selected by the GPAC media. NWU was picked to finish sixth in the 2012 media poll.
The Prairie Wolves received 38 total points for seventh place. Northwestern College received 78 points and six first place votes to earn the top spot in the GPAC Coaches poll, while Morningside College had 76 points and four first place votes for second place..
Nebraska Wesleyan will report to camp on Sunday, Aug. 12th. The Prairie Wolves are expecting approximately 100 players to report to 2012 fall preseason camp. The first practice of the season will be Aug. 13th.
Head coach Brian Keller begins his 17th season as the Prairie Wolves head coach this season and will have 32 returning lettermen, including six offensive starters, six defensive starters and the starting punter.
The Prairie Wolves open the season on Sept. 1 when they host the University of Saint Mary in a nonconference game at 1:00 pm at Abel Stadium.
