Egger Named Academic All-American

Nebraska Wesleyan University junior kicker Zach Egger was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).  Egger was named to the Academic All-America® Second-Team in the college division.

Zach EggerEgger (Jr., Wood River, Neb./Wood River H.S.) has a 3.75 GPA in Exercise Science.  He finished the season fourth in the NAIA in made field goals per game.  His 14 field goals this season tied the NWU single season school record.  Egger, who was named All-GPAC honorable mention, now is 26-41 on career field goals to tie for second all-time at NWU in career field goals.  He is fifth all-time at NWU in career PATs with 56.  The junior kicker also has 134 career points to rank in a tie for ninth all-time at NWU in career scoring among all players.

Beau Kildow from Morningside College was the College Division Academic All-American of the Year, while Tim Tebow from Florida was the University division Academic All-American of the Year.

Nebraska Wesleyan University now has 106 Academic All-America® awards, which is among the top schools in all divisions of competition.  The NWU football team now has had 22 players earn 32 Academic All-American awards which ranks 10th among all football playing schools in the country.

Student-athletes must meet four criteria to earn ESPN the Magazine Academic All- America® honors: 1) must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or better, 2) must have at least two terms of attendance at the institution, 3) must be at least a sophomore in athletic eligibility, 4) must be a starter or key reserve in their respective sport.
