Nebraska Wesleyan Football Announces 57 Recruits

July 10, 2006

Nebraska Wesleyan University Head Football Coach Brian Keller announced the names of 67 recruits today, who will be joining the program this fall.

“Athletically, these players have impressive resumes,” Keller said. “They made a big impact during their high school careers.”

“We needed more speed at wide receiver and more depth at linebacker and on the offensive line, so we’ve addressed those needs with 10 or more recruits in each of those three areas.”

“This is also a very strong class academically,” Keller said.

In 2005, Nebraska Wesleyan led the Great Plains Athletic Conference and tied for second nationally with nine Daktronics/NAIA All-America Scholar-Athletes. The Prairie Wolves also boasted a pair of First Team Academic All-Americans and an NCAA postgraduate scholarship winner last season.

NWU will hold its first football practice in the evening on Monday, Aug. 14, and the team will open its 2006 season at home against Briar Cliff University on Saturday, Sept. 2. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m., in Abel Stadium.
