Nebraska Wesleyan adds 52 recruits in football

July 24, 2007

Head Coach Brian Keller has announced the names of 52 recruits, who have said they will attend Nebraska Wesleyan University this fall and plan to participate in football for the Prairie Wolves.

“We’ve had extremely large numbers the last couple years, but 50 is always our goal, so we’re pleased to have exceeded that mark again this year,” Keller said. “Athletically speaking, we probably did our best recruiting at the running back and receiver positions, but we also landed two transfer kickers who should do really well.”

“Based on the extra-curricular activities these recruits have been involved in, they are hard workers with excellent leadership skills, and those are among the qualities we seek for our football program. They’re solid students, citizens and athletes.”

In 2006, Nebraska Wesleyan ended the season ranked No. 23 in the NAIA poll and the Prairie Wolves placed fourth in the Great Plains Athletic Conference with a 7-3 record, the team’s best since 2000.

NWU will hold its first football practice in the evening on Monday, Aug. 13, and the team will open its 2007 season at home against Northwestern College (Iowa) on Saturday, Sept. 1. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m., in Abel Stadium. For a complete schedule, visit the Nebraska Wesleyan Football link.
