Nebraska Wesleyan's defense held Dordt College to just 168 yards of total offense in a 34-0 shutout victory in Great Plains Athletic Conference football action on Saturday (Sept. 27) in Sioux Center, Iowa. NWU picks up its first win of the season and now will carry its momentum into a bye week.
The Prairie Wolves (1-3, 1-3) had their best offensive game of the season as the NWU offense put up 405 yards of total offense including 249 rushing yards. Jordan Stutzman went over the 100-yard mark for the first time with 105 yards on 17 carries with a touchdown. Kory Kahlandt added 60 yards and a touchdown.
Quarterback Matt Hagge went 12-21 for 156 yards with a touchdown pass, while adding a TD run of his own. Hagge found Ben Iske for a five yard touchdown pass to start the game.
Zach Egger was 2-3 on field goals to provide the rest of the scoring for the Prairie Wolves.
Jake Riha led the NWU defense with six total tackles including 1.5 tackles-for-loss. Garrett Rippen and Phil Schroer each had an interception. Schroer became the NWU all-time leader in interceptions with his pick. He know has 19 career interceptions.
The Prairie Wolves have this Saturday off before returning to action on Oct. 11 when they host Dana College for homecoming. Kickoff is set for 1 pm at Abel Stadium.
