Nebraska Wesleyan scored 26 fourth quarter points as senior running back Kory Kahlandt ran for three touchdowns in the final period as the Prairie Wolves overcame a four-point deficit to defeat 19th-ranked Dakota Wesleyan, 38-23, in the 2009 home opener on Saturday (Sept. 12) at Abel Stadium in Lincoln.

Nebraska Wesleyan blocked a punt and took an early 3-0 lead, but top-ranked Sioux Falls responded with 44 unanswered points as the Cougars beat the Prairie Wolves, 44-3 in the 2009 season opener in Great Plains Athletic Conference football action Saturday night (Sept. 5) in Sioux Falls, S.D.

GPAC LogoThe Nebraska Wesleyan University football team was picked to finish fourth in the 2009 preseason GPAC Coaches' poll that was released on Tuesday (Aug. 4). The poll was voted on by all 12 coaches at the 10th annual GPAC Media Day which was held at the Stoney Creek Inn located in Sioux City, Iowa. The Prairie Wolves received 86 total points in the poll to finish fourth out of the 12 teams. Defending NAIA National Champion Sioux Falls was the choice to repeat as GPAC champions.

Head Coach Brian Keller has announced the names of 49 recruits who have said they will attend Nebraska Wesleyan University this fall and plan to participate in football for the Prairie Wolves.
