Victory Sports Network Names Hunke All-American Punter

Nebraska Wesleyan University senior punter Ethan Hunke was selected as a First-Team All-American when the 2010 Victory Sports Network NAIA Football All-American team was announced on Jan. 14. The Victory Sports Network NAIA Football All-American team was voted on by NAIA football coaches and the Victory Sports Network broadcast team.

Ethan HunkeThis is the second straight season that Hunke has earned All-America recognition from the Victory Sports Network, as he earned honorable mention recognition in 2009.

Hunke (West Point, Neb.) set a new NWU single season record averaging 42.9 yards per punt to finish the season ranked fifth in the NAIA in punt average. He broke his own school record, which he set in 2009. He had 54 punts in 2010, which was 18 more punts than any of the four players ahead of him in the national rankings. He had a long punt of 71 yards, and had ten punts of 50 yards or longer. He also placed 15 punts inside the 20-yard line.

Hunke, a graduate of West Point Central Catholic H.S., ends his career as the all-time leader in punting average at Nebraska Wesleyan. For his career, Hunke punted 166 times for an average of 41.3 yards per attempt.

NWU finished the 2010 season with a 4-6 overall record.

This is the ninth annual edition of the Victory Sports Network NAIA Football All-American Team, which began in 2002 with Jason Dannelly and a committee of coaches.
