The Nebraska Wesleyan University football team was picked to finish seventh in the 2010 preseason GPAC Coaches' poll that was released on Tuesday (Aug. 3). The poll was voted on by all 11 coaches at the 11th Annual GPAC Media Day that was held at the Cornhusker Marriott Downtown in Lincoln.
The Prairie Wolves received 45 total points in the poll, to tie with Briar Cliff University for seventh place. Two-time defending NAIA National Champion University of Sioux Falls was the unanimous choice to repeat as GPAC Champions. The Cougars received 100 total points and 10 first place votes.
Nebraska Wesleyan will report to camp on Wednesday, Aug. 11th. The Prairie Wolves are expecting approximately 120 players to report to 2010 fall preseason camp. The first practice of the season will be Aug. 12th.
Head coach Brian Keller begins his 15th season as the Prairie Wolves head coach this season and will have 29 returning lettermen, including two offensive starters and five defensive starters.
The Prairie Wolves open the season on Sept. 4 when they travel to Seward, Neb., to face conference rival Concordia University at 1 p.m.
