The Nebraska Wesleyan men’s cross-country team finished its season with a 14th place finish at the NCAA Division III Cross-Country Championships at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota on November 17 after previously winning the GPAC Conference Championship and the Central Region Championship.
The men placed five runners in the top fifteen to claim the GPAC title. Senior Chris Dunker led the Prairie Wolves with a championship performance that earned him the Hauff Mid-America Sports/ GPAC Men’s Cross Country Runner-of-the-Year Award. Five runners earned Central Region honors two weeks later. At the Regional meet, the men were led by Dunker and senior Greg Timblin, who placed sixth and tenth, respectively, and sophomore Brian Copley who crossed the line in 15th place overall.
A week later, Dunker earned his second straight All-American honor after finishing 24th out of 280 runners. Next across the line for the Prairie Wolves was Copley in 110th followed closely by Timblin in 116th. NWU returns four of their top seven runners next season. Head coach Ted Bulling was also named Hauff Mid-America Sports/ GPAC Men’s Cross Country Coach-of-the-Year and NCAA Central Region Coach-of-the-Year. |
