Baseball Evens Record at 2-2

Josh Ostrom threw a complete game allowing just one earned run and also went 2-3 at the plate to lead Nebraska Wesleyan to a 7-6 victory over Concordia University (Texas) on Monday night (Mar. 15) at Dell Diamond Ball Park in Round Rock, Texas. The win evens the Prairie Wolves record at 2-2 early on the 2010 season.

The game was played at Dell Diamond Park, which is the home of the Round Rock Express, the triple AAA affiliate of the Houston Astros.

NWU broke open a 5-5 tie in the seventh inning as the Prairie Wolves scored two runs in the top of the seventh. Ostrom doubled and scored on a single by Bryon Janata. After Janata stole second he then scored on a single by Tanner Lewis.

The Tornados (8-11) had two hits and scored a run in the bottom of the seventh, but Ostrom closed the game with a strikeout.

Nebraska Wesleyan trailed 3-0 early after giving up three in the second inning. They then put up four runs in the top of the fourth inning to retake the lead. Brady Beckman had an RBI triple and Andy McGowan drove in two runs with a single.

Ostrom went all seven innings allowing 11 hits and striking out four with just one walk. He finished the game with 113 pitches.

At the plate, six different players had a single hit with Ostrom adding two hits.

Nebraska Wesleyan will close out their Texas trip on Tuesday morning (Mar. 16) with a final game against Huston-Tillotson College at 11 am.

The Prairie Wolves are scheduled to open at home this weekend by hosting Buena Vista University and Presentation College on Saturday and Sunday.
