Ostrom Keeps NWU Alive With Complete Game

May 4, 2012

Josh Ostrom threw a complete game allowing just one earned run in nine innings as Nebraska Wesleyan kept their season alive with a 6-3 victory over Dakota Wesleyan in an elimination game of the 2012 GPAC Baseball Championships on Friday at Haymarket Park in Lincoln.

NWU will now play Northwestern College at 4:45 pm to try to advance to Saturday's action.

DWU took a 2-0 lead in the third inning, but NWU tied it in the fourth inning. After the Tigers retook a 3-2 lead, the Prairie Wolves plated three runs in the bottom of the sixth and never trailed again. Jordan Watteyne hit a 2-run single in the sixth for the big hit of the inning.

Beau Kelly led the NWU offense by going 3-4 on the day.

Just four teams now remain in the GPAC Tournament as Dakota Wesleyan and top-seeded Doane College were eliminated on Friday afternoon.
