Nebraska Wesleyan sophomore pitcher Zane Cascini was named to the NAIA Region III All-Region Baseball Team that was announced Monday (May 12). Cascini was one of four pitchers that was selected for the All-Region team.
Cascini (RHP, So.) had a 6-1 record as NWU’s No. 1 starter this season. The Lincoln, Neb., native struck out 40 and walked just 15 in 59.0 innings of work. He had a 4.58 ERA overall with three complete games and one shutout.
Cascini was the 2008 GPAC Pitcher-of-the-Year and was named to the All-GPAC First-Team as a pitcher.
Bret Hoch from Morningside College was the Region III Player-of-the-Year and Scott Berry from Mayville State University was selected as the Region III Coach-of-the-Year. Region III is made up of the Great Plains Athletic Conference and the Dakota Athletic Conference.
Nebraska Wesleyan finished the 2008 season with a 21-20 overall record.
