NWU Baseball Players Named Scholar Athletes

Two members of the Nebraska Wesleyan University baseball team were chosen as 2008 Daktronics NAIA Scholar Athletes. Seniors Tom Hranac and Aaron Persinger both received the recognition.

Hranac (Lincoln, Neb.) has a perfect 4.0 GPA with Spanish and History Majors. He finished the season with a 3-6 record as the No. 2 starter for NWU. He had a 12-12 career record with 84 strikeouts in four seasons. He finished his career on three different all-time charts. Hranac was also selected as a Second-Team Academic All-District selection.

Persinger (Kearney, Neb.) has a 3.81 GPA with a Biochemistry and Molecular Biology major. Persinger was a three-year letterwinner as a catcher for NWU. As a senior he was awarded the team’s Vicente Colon award. He was also the 2007 Homecoming king at Nebraska Wesleyan.

To earn the scholar-athlete recognition, you must have a 3.5 cumulative GPA, be a junior or senior and a member of a collegiate athletic team, and have attended the school for one year.
