Offense Scores 26 Runs in Two NWU Wins

The Nebraska Wesleyan baseball team scored 13 runs apiece in a pair of victories during their Spring Break Trip to Texas on Monday (March 16). The Prairie Wolves defeated Cardinal-Stritch, 13-9, then came back to blow out Concordia (Texas), 13-0 in the nightcap.

The Prairie Wolves improved to 6-2 early on the season, with two games on Tuesday against Paul Quinn College before opening conference play this weekend.

In the game against Cardinal-Stritch (1-14), NWU jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and would never trail again as they put up 12 hits. Dan Beckmann highlighted the NWU offense going 3-3 with four RBI, with a single, double and his first home run of the season.

Cory Hilgenkamp and Josh Ostrom also both had two hits, including a double and home run for Hilgenkamp.

In the second game against Concordia University in Austin, Texas, NWU errupted for 10 runs in the top of the fifth inning to break out of a 3-0 game. The game did end after five innings.

In the big fifth inning, the Prairie Wolves had 11 hits to score the 10 runs. Hilgenkamp and Boo Frields both had 2-run singles to highlight the inning.

Chris Wahl got the win on the mound pitching all five innings allowing no runs on just two hits.
