Nebraska Wesleyan University junior pitcher Zane Cascini is this week's Association of Division III Independents baseball Player-of-the-Week after his outstanding pitching performance over the weekend.

Cascini (Lincoln, Neb.) threw a complete game 1-hitter to get the victory over Morningside College in a game between the top two teams in the Great Plains Athletic Conference and two of the top pitching aces in the league.
He did not allow an earned run in the game while striking out four to get the victory. It marked the third straight game that Cascini has thrown a complete game without allowing an earned run. His consecutive scoreless innings streak was snapped in the fourth inning ending at 19 innings.
The Lincoln East H.S., product is now 5-1 on the season with a 3.72 ERA. He moved up to a tie for seventh on the all-time NWU career victories list with 17 career wins. His career strikeout total is now at 127, which ranks ninth on the all-time charts.
Nebraska Wesleyan is now 21-7 overall and 12-4 in the GPAC to lead the league standings by two games. The Prairie Wolves host a pair of GPAC doubleheaders this weekend in Lincoln. On Saturday (Apr. 18) NWU will take on Northwestern College before hosting Midland Lutheran College on Sunday afternoon at NWU Field.
