Nebraska Wesleyan University baseball player Josh Ostrom was one of 29 men in the nation in all divisions selected to receive a $7,500 postgraduate scholarship from the NCAA for the spring 2011-12 sports season.

Alex Heideman completed his very successful first season of baseball at Nebraska Wesleyan University by being named an NAIA Baseball Honorable Mention All-American as the team’s were announced on Monday (June 4). The team was selected by the NAIA-Baseball Coaches Association All-America Selection Committee.

Nebraska Wesleyan University had two baseball players named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America® College Division Baseball Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Junior first baseman Beau Kelly was a First-Team Academic All-American® and senior shortstop Josh Ostrom was named to the Academic All-America® Second Team.

Three Nebraska Wesleyan baseball players were named to the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) 2012 First-Team All-Independent baseball team that was announced on Thursday (May 17). Five other NWU players were named Second-Team AD3I All-Independent. In addition, NWU outfielder Alex Heideman was named the AD3I Player-of-the-Year.

Nebraska Wesleyan University had seven members of the baseball team on the 2012 Great Plains Athletic Conference Baseball All-Conference team that was announced Wednesday (May 9). NWU junior Alex Heideman was named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Co-Player-of-the-Year.

Two Nebraska Wesleyan University baseball players have been honored as Capital One/Academic All-District 6 selections in the NAIA College division. Junior infielder Beau Kelly, and senior infielder Josh Ostrom, were both recognized as Academic All-District.

Nebraska Wesleyan's run in the GPAC Baseball Tournament came to a close on Friday night (May 4) as the Prairie Wolves dropped a 12-8 decision to Northwestern College in an elimination game at Haymarket Park in Lincoln.

Josh Ostrom threw a complete game allowing just one earned run in nine innings as Nebraska Wesleyan kept their season alive with a 6-3 victory over Dakota Wesleyan in an elimination game of the 2012 GPAC Baseball Championships on Friday at Haymarket Park in Lincoln.

May 3

Nebraska Wesleyan opened the 2012 GPAC Baseball Championships by going 1-1 on day one of the tournament opening the day with a 3-1 win over Concordia then falling to Mount Marty College, 5-1 in the night game.

Due to overnight rain the 2012 GPAC Baseball Championships have a delay to the start.  The games at Haymarket Park were delayed just 15 minutes, while the Sherman Field games were pushed back

Nebraska Wesleyan sophomore Justin Van Dyke has been selected as the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) baseball player of the week for games played Apr. 23-29.

Nebraska Wesleyan received the No. 3 seed for the 2012 GPAC Postseason Baseball Championships that will be played May 3-5 in Lincoln. The Prairie Wolves will face No. 6 Concordia University on Thursday (May 3) at 11:30 am at Sherman Field.

April 28

Nebraska Wesleyan ended the 2012 regular season with a split at Concordia University in GPAC baseball action on Saturday (Apr. 28) in Seward, Neb. The Bulldogs won an extra innings thriller 5-4, then NWU bounced back to take game two, 5-2.

April 26

Justin Van Dyke threw a complete game three-hit shutout to lead Nebraska Wesleyan to a 4-0 victory over Midland University in game two of a GPAC doubleheader on Thursday afternoon (Apr. 26) at Moller Field in Fremont, Neb. Midland won the first game of the day in a 3-0 shutout.

April 22

Mount Marty used a 9th inning single to left field to earn a 8-7 extra innnings victory over Nebraska Wesleyan in game two of GPAC baseball doubleheader on Sunday afternoon (Apr. 22) at Riverside Field in Yankton, S.D. The Lancers shoutout NWU, 8-0, in game one.

April 21

After allowing Morningside to score two runs and take the lead in the top of the 7th, Nebraska Wesleyan rallied back and had late game heroics of their own as Alex Heideman singled to right center giving the Prairie Wolves a 3-2 victory over the Mustangs in the second game of GPAC baseball doubleheader on Saturday (Apr. 21) at NWU Field. Morningside took game one, 6-3.

April 19

Two of the top three teams in the Great Plains Athletic Conference baseball standings will meet on Saturday (Apr. 21) as Nebraska Wesleyan hosts Morningside College in a GPAC Baseball doubleheader at in Lincoln, Neb. First pitch is set for 1 p.m., at NWU Field in the Woods Park Complex located at 31st & “J” Streets.

April 17

Josh Ostrom singled between through the right side of the infield to drive in Alex Heideman for the game-winning RBI as Nebraska Wesleyan defeated Manhattan Christian College, 3-2, in eight innings to complete a doubleheader sweep on Tuesday afternoon at NWU Field in Lincoln. The Prairie Wolves won game one, 10-2.

April 14

Nebraska Wesleyan extended their winning streak to eight games and completed a perfect 4-0 weekend as the Prairie Wolves swept a GPAC baseball doubleheader at Northwestern College on Saturday (Apr. 14) in Orange City, Iowa. NWU won game one, 7-2, then took the second game, 7-3.

April 13

Nebraska Wesleyan scored six runs in the first inning of game one and scored 13 unanswered runs in the second game as the Prairie Wolves swept Dordt College in a GPAC baseball doubleheader on Friday night (Apr. 13) in Sioux Center, Iowa. NWU won game one, 16-8, and took the nightcap 13-6.
