Ostrom Leads NWU All-GPAC Baseball Selections

Nebraska Wesleyan placed three players on the 2011 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Baseball All-Conference team that has been announced after a vote of the league coaches. Junior Josh Ostrom led the NWU recipients by being voted to the All-GPAC Second-Team at shortstop. Sophomore Beau Kelly and junior Zach Munford were both named honorable mention All-GPAC.

Three NWU Baseball Players Named to All-Independent Team

Three Nebraska Wesleyan baseball players were named to the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) 2011 All-Independent baseball team that was announced on Tuesday (May 9). Junior shortstop Josh Ostrom was named to the All-AD3I First-Team, while pitcher Mike Lovgren and first baseman Beau Kelly were named to the Second-Team.

Concordia Ends NWU's Baseball Season

Concordia University defeated Nebraska Wesleyan 9-0 in game one of a GPAC baseball doubleheader which clinched the Bulldogs the No. 8 seed in the GPAC Postseason baseball tournament and ended the Prairie Wolves chances at the postseason. NWU bounced back to take game two, 7-2, behind a brilliant pitching performance from Justin Van Dyke.

Baseball Gets Split to Keep Postseason Hopes Alive

Nebraska Wesleyan kept its postseason hopes alive with an impressive split against conference leader Doane College on Thursday in the final home games of the season for NWU baseball. The Tigers took game one, 3-0, but the Prairie Wolves bounced back to win the second game, 8-5.

Wolves Fall in Extra Innings for Second Straight Series

After pounding out 16 hits and 12 runs in a 12-8 victory in game one of the doubleheader, Nebraska Wesleyan was limited to just one hit in nine innings as Dakota Wesleyan defeated the Prairie Wolves, 2-1, in extra innings of a pitchers dual on Monday (Apr. 25) in a GPAC baseball doubleheader in Mitchell, S.D.

Baseball Game at Peru State Cancelled

Tuesday's Nebraska Wesleyan baseball game at Peru State College has been cancelled due to wet playing conditions.  The game will not be rescheduled.

Ostrom Pitches Prairie Wolves to Win

Josh Ostrom allowed just six hits and one run in a complete game victory and Griffin DePriest hit a pair of RBI singles as Nebraska Wesleyan defeated Sioux Falls, 2-1, in game two of a GPAC baseball doubleheader on Sunday afternoon (Apr. 17). USF won the first game of the day, 3-1.

Prairie Wolves Pound Out 29 Hits in Two Wins Over Dordt

Nebraska Wesleyan combined to get 29 hits in a pair of victories over Dordt College in GPAC baseball action on Tuesday (Apr. 12) at NWU Field in Lincoln, Neb. NWU won game one 14-8 then took the second game 10-4.

Homers Lift Morningside Over Nebraska Wesleyan

Bill Meachem hit a big home run in each game to lift Morningside College to a doubleheader sweep over Nebraska Wesleyan in GPAC baseball action on Sunday (Apr. 10) at NWU Field in Lincoln. The Mustangs won game one, 4-0, then took the second game, 6-3.

Bobcat's Big Innings Down NWU Baseball

Peru State scored seven runs in each of the first two innings on 14 total hits as they cruised past Nebraska Wesleyan, 16-1 in seven innings, in NAIA baseball action on Wednesday afternoon (Apr. 6) at NWU Field in Lincoln.

NWU Holds on For Split With Mount Marty

Nebraska Wesleyan scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and held off a Mount Marty rally in the top of the seventh as they earned a 9-7 victory in game two of a Great Plains Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader on Saturday afternoon (Apr. 2) at NWU Field in Lincoln. Mount Marty hit four home runs in game one to earn a 13-3 win in five innings.

Weather Forces Mar. 29 Game Changes

Weather has again forced changes to the Nebraska Wesleyan spring sports schedule as competitions that were to be played on Tuesday (Mar. 29) have all been postponed.

Northwestern Sweeps NWU in Snowy GPAC Opener

Northwestern College handed Nebraska Wesleyan their first two conference losses of the season as the Red Raiders defeated the Prairie Wolves 3-2 and 12-2 in the GPAC opener for both teams on Monday (Mar. 28) at NWU Field in Lincoln, Neb.

Baseball & Softball Games Cancelled

Both the Nebraska Wesleyan baseball and softball doubleheaders scheduled for Friday (Mar. 25) have been called off due to weather. Also Saturday's baseball games versus Dordt have also been postponed. The NWU baseball doubleheader against Northwestern has been moved to Monday (Mar. 28) at 1 pm, while the softball doubleheader against Southwestern has been cancelled.  The Dordt doubleheader is rescheduled for Tuesday (Mar. 29) at 1 pm.

Williams Takes Two From NWU

Williams College (Mass.) took a pair of games from Nebraska Wesleyan on the third day of the Prairie Wolves spring trip at the Greater Phoenix Invitational in Phoenix, Ariz. The Ephs won game one, 6-2, then took the second game, 4-3.

Baseball Begins Spring Trip With Win

The Nebraska Wesleyan baseball team got off to a good start on their spring break trip in Phoenix, Ariz., as the Prairie Wolves defeated Saint John's University (Minn.), 5-3, on Saturday (Mar. 20) afternoon.

Peru State Rallies For 5-4 Win

Peru State College scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning to overcome a one-run deficit and they held on to hand Nebraska Wesleyan a 5-4 loss in a nonconference baseball game held Monday afternoon (Mar. 14) at NWU Field in Lincoln.
