Heideman Named NAIA Baseball Preseason All-American

Nebraska Wesleyan senior Alex Heideman has been named a 2013 NAIA Baseball Preseason All-American in an announcement made by the NAIA on Monday (Nov. 5). The 17-member team was selected by the NAIA-Baseball Coaches Association (NAIA-BCA) All-America Committee.Alex Heideman

Heideman (Lincoln, Neb) had a record breaking 2012 season with the Prairie Wolves where he earned NAIA All-American honorable mention recognition and was named the 2012 GPAC Player-of-the-Year. He led the Prairie Wolves in seven different offensive categories and set new NWU single season records with 45 runs scored and seven triples.

The Lincoln Pius X H.S., product batted .391 with five home runs and 28 RBI in his first season with the Prairie Wolves after transferring from Benedictine. Heideman was sixth in the NAIA in triples and was 15th with his .711 slugging percentage.

Heideman is the only Great Plains Athletic Conference Player on the 2013 Preseason All-America list.

Nebraska Wesleyan is coming off a 20-22 overall season in 2012 where they finished 12-8 in conference play to finish third in the GPAC. The Prairie Wolves are scheduled to open the 2013 season on February 24 when they host William Penn University.
