April 6, 2011

Peru State scored seven runs in each of the first two innings on 14 total hits as they cruised past Nebraska Wesleyan, 16-1 in seven innings, in NAIA baseball action on Wednesday afternoon (Apr. 6) at NWU Field in Lincoln.

NWU (5-15) used three different pitchers in the first two innings, and five in the game as the Bobcats (15-14-1) finished with 17 total hits.

After the first two innings, NWU held Peru State to just two runs on three hits, but it was too late.

The Prairie Wolves lone run came in the bottom of the fourth inning as Derek Erb-Woods doubled and scored on an RBI single by Tanner Lewis. The only other hit of the game for the Prairie Wolves was a single by Matt Honerman in the bottom of the second inning.

Mike Schneider took the loss for NWU lasting just 1/3 of an inning allowing seven earned runs on five hits.

NWU will get back to GPAC play this weekend as they travel to Briar Cliff on Saturday and host Morningside College on Sunday afternoon.
