Bill Fagler enters his fourth season as the head baseball coach at Nebraska Wesleyan University. Fagler was hired in May of 2005, just days after resigning his baseball duties at Northeast High School.  Fagler has a 55-62 overall record in three seasons as head coach of the Prairie Wolves.

Last year, he helped NWU to a winning record of 21-20 overall.  The Prairie Wolves also finished 13-11 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference to earn the No. 6 seed in the GPAC Tournament.  It was the third straight season that Fagler has led the Prairie Wolves to the postseason.

In 2007 he guided NWU to a 20-20 overall record and an 11-13 GPAC record.  The Prairie Wolves received the No. 8 seed in the GPAC Tournament and advanced to day two of the tournament with a win over No. 4 Dakota Wesleyan University in an elimination game.  The Prairie Wolves were then eliminated by eventual NAIA Region III Champion Northwestern College.

In his first season at the helm, Fagler helped the Prairie Wolves place fifth in the GPAC, their best league finish since 2001. They finished 14-22 overall, 12-9 GPAC.

While at Northeast, Fagler coached his sons, Jeff and Joe, and led the Rockets to a record of 252-209 and six state tournament appearances in 22 years of work. He also served as head coach for Northeast’s American Legion team and had a record of 330-176 in 14 seasons.

Fagler taught physical education, driver education and peer education at Lincoln Northeast and served as commissioner for the Babe Ruth Baseball Association for more than 20 years.

He earned his undergraduate degree in 1971 from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he also received his Masters of Education in 1975. American Legion Baseball Coach of the Year (1982), Northeast High School Athletic Hall of Fame (1987) and KFOR Sportsman of the Year (1988) are among his many achievements. Fagler and his wife, Mary, reside in Lincoln. Both of their sons are NWU graduates.
