Landing a perfect 4.0 GPA at Nebraska Wesleyan University requires the academic version of a four-year full-court press. You have to anticipate quizzes, double- and triple-team those group projects, make the most of good teaching and distribute your attention effectively across assignments.
That’s exactly what Andy Schweitzer (’12), an accounting and economics major from Bedford, Iowa, has done. And he’s done it all while carrying a hefty load for the men’s basketball team. Schweitzer’s 29 3-pointers and 62 assists in the 2011-2012 regular season ranked second on the team.
His selection to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America First Team comes as little surprise to his teammates. Among those teammates is Andy’s “little” brother, Tim Schweitzer (’14). The 6’7” forward is Andy’s biggest fan. “The way he manages his time so well across school and basketball—I just don’t know how he does it,” Tim said.
