Bright student group takes Points of Light Award
Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman recognized Nebraska Wesleyan University’s Global Service Learning (GSL) student organization with a Points of Light Award. GSL members received the award at the state capitol on February 11 in recognition of volunteers who give their time, talent and energy to help Nebraskans build a stronger community.
GSL is dedicated to local, national and international service.
Professor of English Gerise Herndon was one of several people to nominate the organization for the award. She wrote, “This diverse group of students from a variety of majors and classes has become committed to working for social justice. They see service as the normal behavior of those of us with privilege.”
