“Tree of Trees”
Allison is the freelance illustrator behind Nebraska Wesleyan’s “Tree of Trees.” She is a Lincoln artist, sculptor and writer. Allison grew up on a farm in Miller, Neb., and her work reflects her love of the outdoors. She has created large-scale sculptures for zoos around the nation and sells paintings and prints locally. She teaches after-school art classes at the Irving Recreation Center in Lincoln while she pursues a Master of Education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Ben Gotschall (’02),
Ben is an occasional writer for Archways—that is when he’s not teaching in the Wesleyan Advantage Program, writing or publishing poetry, playing guitar in the traditional/country band Triggertown, or milking cows at Branched Oak Farm outside Raymond (BranchedOakFarm.com). As you’ll read, he’s a strong advocate for locally grown organic food.

Sandra McBride (’84),
“Prairie Wolves in Print”
Sandy was Bill Kloefkorn’s student in the early ‘80s, his colleague in the English Department throughout the ‘90s, and is his friend today. Sandy teaches English at NWU and coordinates services for students with disabilities. She and her husband, Bruce, have more turtles in their basement than she’d like to admit.
“Forensic Science Report Card”
Melissa is associate professor and program director of Forensic Science. Her work as a forensic archeologist has taken her to various hells on earth. She’s led exhumations of graves following mass murders and genocides; her passport includes stamps from Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Iraq. Despite her grim work, her sense of humor is intact; she’s a delight at social gatherings.
Thomas Ochsner (’92),
“Pell Grant Plusses”
Tom has worked for NWU for 17 years—13 in the Business Office as an assistant controller, and the last four as the director of scholarships and financial aid. He and his wife Leigh-Ann (Newsham) (’91) and their two children, Aaron and Amanda, are big sports fans. Tom also works part-time at his church as the Praise Service Coordinator/Worship Leader playing the guitar and singing. Over the noon hour you can find him in the Weary Center working out in the weightroom or playing racquetball with friends.
