Nebraska Wesleyan University has set the goal of growing its Archway Fund to $2.5 million over the next several years. In addition to increasing the dollars raised for the annual fund, the university hopes to increase the number of alumni and friends who donate to the university.
An institution may set a goal on its own. But reaching it requires the leadership and investment of many of Nebraska Wesleyan’s alumni and friends.
“As graduates, friends and supporters of Nebraska Wesleyan University, we all own this school,” said Judith (Trimble) Maurer (’69), who co-chairs the Archway Fund National Committee with her husband, Keith Maurer (’69). “Like any valuable possession, the university must be well cared for… to be certain that it will continue to be a source of pride for everyone now and tomorrow.”
“We believe that NWU should remain near the top of alumni and friends’ philanthropic priorities,” Keith Maurer added, saying that the impact of gifts in other arenas is often abstract or remote. “But gifts to NWU’s Archway Fund make a difference today. This year. This week,” he said.
The Archway Fund helps to keep NWU affordable to students with considerable financial need. It keeps labs equipped and supports a strong faculty. “Those of us who graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan can probably name several professors who influenced our lives and careers. It’s our duty to be certain this teaching excellence continues.”
Joining the Maurers in leadership roles as chairs of Archway Fund subcommittees are alumni from multiple generations who share a common commitment to Nebraska Wesleyan’s future.
