Phi Kappa Tau Charters a Changed Fraternity

In 2011, a very different Phi Kappa Tau returned on campus as a colony. Phi Kappa Tau will officially charter during homecoming. A chartering ceremony will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 20 in Emerson Recital Hall. The fraternity is holding a daylong open house that same day, where visitors can see renovations that include fire sprinkler systems. Nebraska Wesleyan University’s Greek Fire Safety Program provided 20-year interest free loans of up to $67,000 to assist Greek chapters in making these vital but expensive improvements. Every NWU chapter took part in the program, making Nebraska Wesleyan one of the only universities in the country with 100 percent of Greek houses sprinkler-protected. Phi Kappa Tau fraternity’s national history dates back to 1906 at Miami University of Ohio.
