From Beatrice to Buenos Aires
Ashley Lineweber knows that communicable diseases are excellent world travelers. If she wants to fight those diseases, she knows she has to be a world traveler, too. That’s why she pursued and won a $20,000 Boren scholarship from the National Security Exchange Program.
The Boren scholarship is sending Lineweber to Argentina to study global public health. The junior biology and Spanish major from Beatrice, Neb., will spend a year at the Universidad Del Salvador in Buenos Aires.
Lineweber realizes that the fight against disease requires educated experts “who have international competence… to develop effective public health policy that can be implemented across cultural barriers.” She said, “I want to be a part of that process.”
