General Information
Honors Academy is a concurrent enrollment program that allows students to earn college credit for successfully completing approved Advanced Placement (AP) or honors-level courses through their high school. Students are concurrently enrolled in high school and college and receive credit toward graduation from both institutions.
High school teachers who have applied and been accepted as adjunct faculty at Nebraska Wesleyan University teach Honors Academy courses. The courses are as rigorous as those taught to first year students on campuses across the country.
Cost
The tuition rate for 2007-2008 is $75 per credit hour.
Registering for Honors Academy
Registration materials are mailed to Honors Academy faculty in mid-September for distribution in their classrooms. Students may then register for fall or two-semester courses. Registration for spring-only courses will take place following the holiday break in December-January. Registration and drop deadlines for all courses are listed on the individual course registration forms.
Transferring Credit
Students who successfully complete their courses receive a grade on a Nebraska Wesleyan University transcript and credit toward a degree at Nebraska Wesleyan. Additionally, Honors Academy credit has been accepted by over 85 institutions; however, acceptance of credit is always subject to the policies of the receiving institution. Interested students should check with the registrar at the institutions they are considering attending to find out whether or not Honors Academy credit are accepted.
To transfer credit earned in Honors Academy to another institution, contact the Nebraska Wesleyan Registrar to have your transcripts forwarded to the college or university of your choice.
Withdrawing (Dropping) a Course
You must contact both the high school and Nebraska Wesleyan University to drop a course. The registration and drop deadlines for all courses are listed on the individual course registration forms. Dropped courses do not show up on a transcript and tuition is refunded. After the drop deadlines, you may still withdraw from courses but a "W" will show up on you transcript and tuition is forfeited. To drop or withdraw form a course, call the University College office at 402.465.2331.
