Students participate in professional, community service and social events through the department student club, SWOSA (Social Work, Sociology, Anthropology), and may pursue membership in the Sociology International Honorary Society, Alpha Kappa Delta.

Alpha Kappa Delta Membership Requirements:

  1. Sociology major
  2. Junior status or above
  3. Overall 3.00 GPA or above
  4. Being in the top 35% of respective class
  5. 3.00 GPA or above in sociology and anthropology courses
  6. Completion of at least four courses in Sociology

Sociology & Anthropology students also participate in volunteer work and internships in a variety of public and private organizations, including:

  • The Nebraska State Patrol
  • Cedars Home for Children
  • The Friendship Home
