Math & Computer Science Department students gain valuable practical experience through paid or unpaid internships with local businesses and research facilities, including:

  • Ameritas Life Insurance
  • Baldwin, Hackett and Meeks
  • Binary Net, Inc.
  • First Data Corporation
  • Nebraska Department of Education
  • Pfizer Animal Health
  • Sandhills Publishing
  • State of Nebraska

Extracurricular Activities
The Mathematics/Computer Science Club meets regularly to enjoy guest speakers, food and community. Students can also pursue membership in the local chapter of Kappa Mu Epsilon, the mathematics honorary. Competitions and Other Opportunities Annually, students compete in national mathematics and computer science competitions, including the Putnam Exam, the Mathematical Contest in Modeling, and the Association for Computing Machinery International Collegiate Programming Contest. Department students also serve as tutors for lower-level courses, which is an opportunity for them to develop their own skills and get paid while helping their peers. Additionally, students can work for the Student Technology Assistance Resource Team (START), which provides computer support to the Wesleyan community.
