English majors learn skills of interpretation,
explanation, research and communication that
apply to many professional careers. Recent English majors
have pursued careers in advertising, marketing, law, publishing,
teaching and business; many Nebraska Wesleyan English majors
also pursue graduate or professional degrees.
| “I loved
my experience as an English major. It was a close-knit
community of professors and students and I felt
like I belonged to a family. From watching Shakespearean
theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon to discussing Latino literature
at Mo Java, every experience was memorable.” |

| “The single greatest
asset I gained from the Nebraska Wesleyan English Department
was a sharpened ability to think critically." |

| “I
would not have been as successful in law school without
my English background. So much of law school and practicing
law is reading critically and writing. Having developed
the skills to self-edit and write concisely put me ahead
of most of my classmates.” |
