Forensics
Students on the forensics team participate in speech and debate competitions at the state, regional and national levels. The team competes at the annual American Forensics Association (AFA) National Individuals Events Tournament and regularly places among the top four teams within the region. The team hosts a tournament each December and is a past host of the Novice National Tournament.

Extracurricular Organizations
Students may pursue membership in three national honoraries:

  • Lambda Pi Eta (Communication)
  • Pi Kappa Delta (Forensics)
  • Theta Alpha Phi (Theatre).

Internships
Whether writing speeches in the office of the governor or working backstage at a nationally televised talk show, students apply theories learned in the classroom to professional internship settings.

Students also have the option to complete their internship requirements in Chicago through the Urban Life Center or in Washington, D.C. through The Capitol Hill Internship Program (CHIP).
