42nd Street
About the Show
This musical about a musical tells the story of staging an elaborate production at the height of the Great Depression. 42nd Street won a Tony for Best Musical, Best Musical Revival and an Olivier for Best Musical for the London production. 42nd Street is based on the novel by Bradford Ropes and the subsequent film adaptation (1933).
42nd Street features a book by Michael Stewart and Mark Bramble, lyrics by Al Dubin and music by Harry Warren. The 1980 nBroadway production was choreographed by dance legend Gower Champion. Our production features choreography derived from Gower Champion's choreography and adapted for our stage by Spence Ford, director of the Musical Theatre program at Penn State and former Broadway dancer. This is the third show we have had the pleasure of working with Spence. The first NWU production Spence choreographed was GREASE in 2004 and the second was PIPPIN in 2008.
Some of the songs you may remember are "You're Getting to Be a Habit With Me", We're in the Money", "Lullaby of Broadway" and of course, "42nd Street".

Theatre season preview in Lincoln Journal Star
Great theatre season preview in Lincoln Journal Star's Ground Zero: http://journalstar.com/entertainment/arts-and-culture/theatre/article_4c...
42nd Street
A new season has begun at Wesleyan and the performance of "42nd Street" was absolutely perfect. I could go on but, I won't. I don't want too many people to know about Lincoln's little gem. I'll never get a ticket!
