The Athletic Training Education Program at Nebraska Wesleyan University provides the students the opportunity to complete the Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Athletic Training, and prepare for an athletic training career. The Athletic Training Education Program utilizes both classroom and clinical experiences to provide values, skills, knowledge and intellectual and personal growth while preparing students for the Board of Certification exam. The program aspires to be recognized as a model and leader for small colleges and universities and develop students who are clinically competent and independent-thinking health care professionals.

Goals of the program:

  1. To prepare qualified athletic trainers for employment in high schools, colleges, professional sports programs, and other health care agencies.
  2. To provide strong academic and clinical experiences to allow students to develop mastery of competencies required for an entry-level athletic training professional.
  3. To prepare students to successfully pass the BOC certification.
  4. To promote acceptable standards of ethical conduct at every opportunity, and adhere to the NATA Code of Ethics.
  5. To continually determine the reliability and validity of athletic training course content and clinical experiences.
  6. To continually seek the highest quality in instructional technique, equipment, clinical experiences, and student achievements.
  7. To promote contact with professionals within Athletic Training and related areas.
  8. To provide all students exposure to injuries and illnesses of a diverse population of physically active individuals.
