Biology Department

A degree in Biology is very versatile and permits study in many different professional programs and graduate schools.

Over 80% of our department graduates go on to graduate or professional schools. Popular fields for those interested in health sciences include medicine, physician assistant and dentistry. Students also pursue master's and doctoral degrees in areas such as restoration ecology, environmental toxicology, horticulture, microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, and genetics.

The goals of the biology faculty at Nebraska Wesleyan are to:

  • Teach the basic skills and knowledge that will enable them to pursue advanced work in the biological sciences
  • Nurture an appreciation of the complexity and grandeur of nature
  • Help students gain an understanding of evolution as the unifying theme of biology
  • Engender an understanding of the ethical dimensions of biological knowledge
  • Provide an environment that fosters a lifelong participation in science

The Biology Department is on the second floor of Olin Hall.
