The Nebraska Wesleyan University Choir is a select 54-voice ensemble, more than half of whom are music majors. The choir is recognized throughout this country and internationally for performing excellence and regularly presents a varied repertoire rich in global diversity.
This small, auditioned vocal ensemble focuses primarily on a cappella chamber music. They perform at the annual Elizabethan Feast in December. The Elizabethan Feast is complete with singing, a four-course meal, comedia, trumpet fanfares and recorder ensemble music. During second semester, the Chamber Singers perform a variety of musical styles from Broadway to madrigals to current pop.
Touch of Class
This auditioned ensemble meets three times per week and focuses on jazz repertoire. Touch of Class performs several times a semester and takes an annual tour in the spring.
Operatic performing opportunities have been offered at Nebraska Wesleyan University for over 25 years. Fully staged and costumed operas, with orchestra, are performed every spring. Two evenings of opera scenes are performed every fall.
When the students are not rehearsing full productions or scenes, additional topics are covered, including acting, audition skills, movement, dance, character development, performance preparation, memorization, score study, choreography, and directing. Students are also actively involved in the technical production of Opera Scenes and productions (costuming, make-up, lighting, scenic design, props, choreography, musical direction, and stage managing). All performing opportunities at Nebraska Wesleyan, including operas and opera scenes, are available to any student, regardless of major.
Men’s Glee is a great opportunity for men on campus of all levels of talent to enjoy being in a choral ensemble. There are several performance opportunities during the year. This ensemble also creates a fun way to get involved and learn about different genres and styles of music.
