Athletic Training Major

A graduating athletic training major should:

  1. Be able to demonstrate proficiency in the following 12 content areas as defined by the National Athletic Trainers Association Educational Council:
    • Risk Management and Injury Prevention
    • Pathology of Injuries and Illnesses
    • Orthopedic Clinical Examination and Diagnosis
    • Medical Conditions and Disabilities
    • Acute Care of Injuries and Illnesses
    • Therapeutic Modalities
    • Conditioning and Rehabilitative Exercise
    • Pharmacology
    • Psychosocial Intervention and Referral
    • Nutritional Aspects of Injuries and Illnesses
    • Health Care Administration
    • Professional Development and Responsibility
  2. Fulfill the eligibility requirements to sit for the Board of Certification examination.
  3. Demonstrate practical application of knowledge in an appropriately supervised organizational setting.
