Education Department

Students may earn a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree. Endorsements we offer are:

  • Art (K-6 and K-12)
  • Elementary Education
  • Special Education K-6
  • Secondary Education Endorsements accompany a majors in Basic Business and BMIT (Business, Marketing and Information Technology), Chemistry, English Language Arts, Health and Physical Education, History, Instrumental Music, Mathematics, Physical Education, Physics, Science, Secondary English, Social Science, and World Language (French, German, Spanish)
  • Supplemental Certificates in Coaching, English as a Second Language (ESL/ELL) and Theatre

The NWU Education Department difference:

  • Students are able to graduate in four years
  • When teaching techniques and strategies change due to new research, we are able to incorporate them into our coursework immediately
  • Students are in field placements during their freshman year
  • All students have 6-8 supervised practicum experiences in area schools prior to student teaching
  • Field placements are selected to provide students with diverse series of experiences in order to prepare them for any teaching environment
  • Student teaching may be completed abroad (countries include Australia, China, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Great Britain, Japan, Kenya, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Russia, Spain, Turkey)
